About Trevor
Trevor Myers is a storyteller, journalist and editor who specializes in video work and copy editing. During his final semesters of his undergraduate, he wrote and published more than 100 articles across various websites, news outlets and magazines. He has closely edited texts of varying lengths, from short-form breaking news articles to a full-length novel. He has also shot and edited video content including a 15-minute documentary, 90-second news packages and social media content.
Trevor now works as a digital producer in a top 30 news market — at ABC4 Utah (KTVX/KUCW) in Salt Lake City — where he writes articles for the web and oversees the content on the station's website and social media accounts. During the summer of 2023, Trevor worked as an intern for KHON2 News, the top-rated FOX affiliate in Hawaii, owned by Nexstar Media Group.
While at BYU, Trevor worked as the Executive Producer of the Universe Live broadcasts, which aired four days a week. Trevor is familiar with Adobe Premiere Pro and improving his broadcast writing and editing skills with ENPS. Trevor worked with his Associate Producer to find stories, stack the show and ensure reporters and anchors are ready for air. Trevor also anchored for the show, in addition to having been a student reporter that shot and edited his own packages.
In the news:
Trevor was in the middle of breaking news early one morning — but not as a reporter.
He was woken up by his parents and looked out the window to see police vehicles blocking off the street he grew up on. The situation escalated to the point where a house two doors down was on fire and neighbors were being removed from their homes. Police fatally shot the suspect before 7 a.m.
Trevor was sending photos, videos and live updates back to the station; his photos and videos were used as b-roll throughout the majority of that day's newscasts. He also spoke to a reporter live on-camera to describe the experience.
