Awards and Achievements

SPJ Mark of Excellence Award

Trevor won first place in Region 9 of the Society of Professional Journalists for the category of Television Breaking News Reporting.

 

The award-winning work will be entered into a national competition.

Zions Indie Film Fest — Official Selection

Four BYU documentaries were official selections to screen at the Zions Indie Film Fest — including "Hope for Lahaina," the film Trevor worked on.

​

"Hope for Lahaina" was up against three professional documentaries from the same company.

Mark and Lola Austad Award for Outstanding Newsroom Contribution

Trevor was nominated for this award at the beginning of 2023 for the work he had done as a Producer for the Universe Live broadcasts. He was one of three recipients, and was given a financial award.

Wally Zimmermann Internship in Television Broadcast Journalism

Local news media outlets select one intern to be their Hawaii SPJ intern for the summer. Interns selected through this program receive financial compensation for time spent working at full-time internships. Trevor was the intern selected for KHON2 News.

Utah SPJ Headliners — Second Place

Trevor was awarded second place in the Utah SPJ Headliners competition for Writing and Reporting - Division B: Religion / Values.
